Fall: Festival of Colours!

October is here, and my sister from the Netherlands arrives today!

It’s the first time for her to be in the Maritimes, and I am excited to show her  some of my favourite places.

New Brunswick in fall colours.

I am thinking Kings Landing and the beautiful hidden valley of the Priceville hanging bridge.

Summer evenings outside are there to enjoy but cool fall mornings and warmer afternoons, when the sun makes the colours of the leaves glow, have their own special place in the cycle of the seasons.

The natural reds, browns and yellows inspire to think of knits and flannel shirts, plaids and camel coloured coats with big scarves.

It calls for style - warm and comfortable -  with your own twist.

When choosing an outfit make sure to find the right colour tone for you. A nuance can make a big difference.

I had a young lady in the store last week who tried a khaki jacket - she had choice of two; one jacket was slightly more pale than the other. With her hair colour she needed the darker one to create just enough contrast for an interesting look.

The same counts for the fashionable beige, camel and toffee brown tints. So much is depending on your skin tone and hair colour. You need to experiment and try items on to see what compliments you.

Have fun shopping, relax, play, try something too big, try the colour you love, try something you think you would never wear and see how it looks.

We all learn  by trial and error. It will make you become more confident in what works best for you.

Have a good time in the store, let it bring a smile to your face.

Enjoy the new season; out there in nature but maybe also in your life.

Our bodies change over the years, we mature. The art of life is to lean into this change, adapt and enjoy the ride to new adventures. With the wisdom of what is learned over the years but with a fresh new look; fitted for you.

I feel some sister shopping time coming up at Second Showing Boutique next week :)
